Should we simplify and/or consolidate the forums? If so, how?

I am with Shades on that when just viewing Newer posts since your last visit is pretty much next to combining everything into "one" forum.

The reason I brought up the proposal is to make it so that people do actually open up the forum to see older threads they might have forgotten to post in and they post there then.

And, in my opinion, it was a perfectly good proposal. On the rare occasion that the "view posts since my last visit" option goes wrong, it is certainly much more inconvenient to have to search through a large number of different sections than if many of them were consolidated. However, it seems to be the case that not very many people particularly care one way or the other, and most of those who have voted so far prefer to keep things as they are. However, the response to the poll has been very disappointing--even fewer people have voted than have posted in this thread. It is hard to draw any firm conclusions from such a small sample other than that most people are simply not interested.

So it has been over a month since I have started using purely "View Posts since my last visit". I have realized that I tend to care less about replying back to threads and if the thread did not get any updates, I become unaware of its existence.

So pretty much posts if have time or chance not seeing that thread again, not that it "matters" so much. But then what really is the point of these many sections if everyone follows the suit?

Some people have an interest in a limited number of subjects, so those may look in those sections only. Besides, i would be kind of a mess if we had only one section..for example: the Dustbin can be read but not posted in, which would not be possible if we had a single section.
