A spokesperson for Nvidia Corp. said in an interview that Intel’s postponement of USB 3.0 implementation to 2011 was a direct consequence of the fact that Nvidia will not be able to compete against Intel on the core-logic market.

“Nvidia nForce chipsets have traditionally been full of innovative features, even better than Intel's own chipsets. […] However, it has been widely reported that Nvidia will not be making any new chipsets for the Intel platform until our dispute with Intel is resolved,” said Brian Burke, Nvidia’s public relations manager for GeForce Notebook and CUDA consumer products, in an brief interview with TGDaily web-site.

While Nvidia’s chipsets offered better overclockability compared to Intel’s own core-logic for Pentium 4/D and Core 2 microprocessors, stability of Intel’s chipsets has always been better compared to Nvidia nForce. Intel has been designing chipsets for performance enthusiasts since 2003 (Intel 875X), and it cannot be said that existence of Nvidia nForce chipsets forced Intel to introduce something principally new. Nevertheless, Nvidia claims that its chipsets actually pushed Intel to innovate.

“We [have also] learned that Intel is postponing USB 3.0 introduction until 2011. With no competition in chipsets, it seems Intel has decided that innovation is not needed for USB any time soon. With no one to push Intel to innovate, PC enthusiasts are left with Intel chipsets and the features and performance they deliver, or lack there of,” said Mr. Burke.

While at present Intel has no rivals on the market of chipsets for Intel Core i5 and i7 central processing units, this does not mean that Intel is not interested in selling more core-logic sets since every single chipset Intel sells means additional revenue.

QFT! First nVIDIA chipset I had was an nForce4 on an Asus A8N32-SLI. It was also my last. What a horrible motherboard and horrible stability.

Only reason for nforce was to use SLi, as it`s suck now seriously to CF, no reason for Ncrap.
