A web-site has published two photos that, according to the claims, depict a mobile Internet device (MID) from Apple. Unfortunately, specifications of the device are still unclear, which means it is nearly impossible to guess the features of the forthcoming device as well as its launch timeframe.

Two images published by French web-site Nowhereelse.fr show off a touch-screen-based MID with Apple Mac OS X Leopard welcome screen. The device sports “Home” button on the lower side of the unit and has a screen with approximately 8” – 10” in diagonal. The product seems to be rather thin, which may point to the usage of a very ultra low voltage processor, perhaps, an ARM-based one, or a special version of Intel Atom.

Considering the fact that the rumours regarding “Apple Tablet” are rather common these days, the images, which do not seem to be fake, may either depict an early prototype of the unit or the final version of the MID from Apple. In any case, this seems to be the proof that Apple is working on a touch-screen-based mobile device, which is larger compared to the iPhone/iPod touch.

Apple did not comment on the news-story.
