PowerColor, a leading supplier of ATI Radeon-based graphics cards, has unveiled the world’s first ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics board with liquid cooling system from EK Water Blocks. The improved cooling solution will enable better overclockability and performance of PowerColor LCS HD 5870 1GB graphics card.

"The most efficient cooling solution should pack with the most powerful GPU. With the partnership with EK, the LCS HD5870 can work impressively in a cool and stable operating environment – it’s the card which designed to fulfill the true gamers,” said Ted Chen, chief executive officer of Tul Corp., the owner of PowerColor brand.

The PowerColor LCS HD5870 has a full water block mounted on the card, fully covering the memory and power regulator chip. With a copper base design, it is able to reduce temperatures in the most efficient way possible. PowerColor packages a high-flow 3/8" and 1/2" fittings (barbs) to maximize water flow with captured o-rings to prevent leakage. End-users should get pump themselves, which means additional cost to the $400+ price-tag of the board.

PowerColor LCS HD5870 clocks graphics processing unit at 875MHz, while 1GB of GDDR5 memory operates at 5GHz (1250MHz) memory, up slightly from 850MHz/4.8GHz reference clock-speeds. Liquid cooling solution should help to boost frequencies further.

The PowerColor LCS HD5870 will be available on November 6 and will be bundled with a voucher to obtain Dirt 2 game when it becomes available.

ATI Radeon HD 5870 – the world’s most powerful GPU to date that was previously known as ATI RV870 or ATI Cypress – features 1600 stream processing units, 80 texture units, 32 render back ends and 256-bit memory bus. The chip incorporates unprecedented number of transistors – 2.15 billion and has maximum compute performance of 2.72TFLOP/s.
